The Ministry of Fisheries’ Corporate Plans outline Tonga’s long‑term commitment to sustainably managing its marine resources while strengthening food security, economic growth, and community wellbeing. Across these plans, the Ministry prioritises the expansion of Special Management Areas, the development of sustainable coastal and offshore fisheries, the growth of aquaculture industries, and the implementation of the Tonga Fisheries Sector Plan supported by regional and international partners. The plans emphasise science‑based management, stronger compliance and monitoring, improved governance, and targeted investments in infrastructure, staff capacity, and community engagement. Together, these Corporate Plans provide a clear roadmap for building a resilient, productive, and sustainably managed fisheries sector that supports livelihoods and contributes to a healthier, more prosperous Tonga.
